Award-winning songwriter and worship artist Brenton Brown releases “Everywhere” featuring King’s College, a vibrant new song born from an extraordinary songwriting session with children from King’s College in Pelsrus, Jeffreys Bay. Written together with students from the school, “Everywhere” is a joyful declaration of the presence of God and the confidence that He goes with us wherever life may lead.
At its heart, the song carries a simple message: wherever we go, God is there. But the story behind “Everywhere” makes the song even more special. King’s College was established in Pelsrus more than 20 years ago after a Dutch couple were moved by the needs they encountered within the local community. What began as a desire to serve has grown into a remarkable ministry impacting hundreds of children and families.
Today, King’s College operates a fully functioning private school in the township, equipped with modern educational technology and committed to providing high-quality education to children in the Eastern Cape. The wider ministry also provides foster homes for children and operates Rainbow College, a school dedicated to children with special educational needs. It has even developed a stroopwafel business, producing the popular Dutch-inspired biscuits now sold across South Africa. More than 800 students are currently part of the organisation's educational system, with the ministry now expanding further through the development of a new high school.
Moved by what was happening in Pelsrus, Brenton Brown and producer Kurt Slabbert sat down with eight students from King’s College for a songwriting session. What emerged surprised everyone. “Everywhere I Go” came directly from the voices, experiences and faith of the students. Infectious, energetic and unmistakably South African, the song moves naturally between English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa, celebrating the cultures represented within the community. The track also features a standout rap from Linamandla Matumelo, adding another distinct voice to a song created by the children themselves.
More than simply a collaboration, “Everywhere I Go” captures what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to tell their own stories through music. It is a song of joy from Pelsrus to the world. A reminder that whether we are at home, at school, travelling into the unknown or facing a new season, the presence of God is not limited by geography.
