Scripture: “Obey them that have the rule over you,and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account. that they may do it withjoy,and not with grief:for that is unprofitable for you” (Hebrews 13:17).
Dwight L. Moody was thinking of “Trust and Obey” when he wrote this summary of the Christian walk “The blood of Christ alone makes us safe. The Word alone makes us sure. Obedience to God makes us happy.”Naturally human beings like to rebel we do not want to be told what to do, because we think that we always know what is best. When something is difficult or does not make sense to us we react we are commanded to obey all authorities as long as their commandments do not conflict with that of God.
We should be obedient to our school prefects, class captains, masters, parents, pastors, teachers, the laws of the land and definitely, God. Salvation crushes and uproots the rebellion tendencies in man and gives grace to be obedient to all ordinances of men and God.We must trust and obey God because “…the favor he shows. And the joy he bestows, Are for them who will trust and obey.”
Challenge: Obedience is evidence of genuine conversion.
Prayer: Lord as I work the path of obedience fill my heart with Joy
