KEY VERSE: “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world” (John 17:16).
Beloved, today we are looking, at a topic that is crucial to the Christian faith and survival. Because we often see more of the physical world around us, many Christians think that they are still of the world. They seem not to consider the fact that their old man, with his actions or deeds, died when they surrendered their lives to Christ and are now spiritually seated with Christ in heavenly places. It seems paradoxical to say that a citizen of America, living in America does not belong to America.
For the Christian, that is the truth: we are in the world, but not of the world. Hence we are told, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2). It was Joseph Alliance who declared that, “A man caught up with this world is not ready for the next.” In our text, Jesus said concerning His disciples, “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” Beloved, are you separated from the world or you still belong to it? Live the heavenly life if you belong there.
Challenge: God will keep you from the evil in the world.
Prayer: O God, help me set my love on heaven in Jesus’name.
Quote: Live the heavenly life if you belong there.
