Nigerian gospel music minister, recording artist, songwriter and worship leader, Oye Gabriel  took to her Instagram page to shower praises on her husband Mr. Gabriel:

I DIDN’T MARRY A PERFECT MAN — I MARRIED A PRACTISING CHRISTIAN 🤍

I will never paint a picture of a perfect marriage or a love that isn’t realistic. There is really no perfect formula for marriage, but I will always recommend the Word of God as the template to follow if you truly want to make it work.

People often say, “Marry your friend.” But would anyone wake up one day and decide they want to marry their enemy? 😅

I am a better wife and a better lover today because I married a practising Christian and believer. Emphasis on practising—because it is one thing to know the Word of God, and another thing to intentionally live by it every day.

One of my greatest fears before agreeing to date my husband was that he might not love and pursue me the same way he did eight years ago. I thought he only had a crush on me or had fallen in love with the sweet voice he heard on the radio in 2018 before sliding into my Instagram DM.

The funny thing is, I ignored him for years. 😂 We were not even in communication throughout those years. Then I moved to Lagos, and somehow, we reconnected. That was when I realised he was that same guy from eight years back.

At that point, I had so much baggage and I was coming from a lot. I had experienced things that could have made someone walk away or judge me based on my past. But he didn’t care about whatever had happened in my past or what people had to say. He accepted me wholeheartedly and promised to walk with me through my healing journey.

Then one day, I asked him, “What did I do for you to love me this much?”

He said, “You have done nothing to make me love you. I just want to show you that good men still exist. I loved you before I came for you, and no matter what happens, I can never get tired of you.”

Ah! 🥺 In that moment, I literally saw Jesus in him.

We are far from perfect, and we will never paint a picture of perfection. But every day, we choose to love, forgive, communicate, grow, and practise what the Word of God teaches us.

That is not a perfect marriage. That is intentional love rooted in God’s Word. 🤍
